So here’s the thing…
I really don’t like myself all that much.
Full disclosure, I have depression, rock bottom self esteem and I’m fairly certain I have anxiety, but hey so do a lot of people. I’m overweight and a very very lazy person. I’m also not a very experienced hiker.
But I like being outside. I want to lose weight. I like taking photos.
I’ve set myself a frankly ridiculous target of climbing all 282 Munros in Scotland. The time is undetermined but let’s just conservatively say “in my lifetime”. I ticked off Ben Lawers and Beinn Ghlas on Monday, and my goodness it was wonderful. I am going to write a proper post about the experience soon.

This target is a bit ridiculous because;
- As of writing I have done 4 in just over a year
- I find it difficult to walk uphill
- The idea of the Inaccessible Pinnacle is godamn terrifying
- For many reasons I’m just not so good at getting out the house as much as I would like
Despite these things I have set up an Instagram account (because I like Instagram) and this blog (because I like the idea of accountability) to see if I can encourage myself to get myself out of the door and do more stuff outside. If this has positive benefits on my mental and physical health… Well brilliant.
